 Events at DSU Sept 17 - Oct 1, 2021

Sept 16 (THU) 9 AM

Journalist John Gibler, DSU's Vince Brown and USU Professor Chris Gonzalez speak to Tom Williams on UPR's Access Utah FM 90.9 and FM 100.3.  You can listen to the discussion at https://www.upr.org/post/remember-43-students-thursdays-access-utah .

Sept 17 (FRI) 10 AM

Opening ceremony for the "Remember the 43 Students" in the Eccles lobby on the DSU campus. This will be a rare opportunity to engage the entire installation in one location. Sept 17 (FRI) 11:30 AM

Sept 22 (WED) and SEPT 23 (THU)

Journalist John Gibler visits several classes on the DSU campus to speak with students and faculty.  These classroom visits are not open to the public.

SEPT 22 (WED) 7 PM

Screening the acclaimed documentary The 43 (Los días de Ayotzinapa). The film examines the 43 atrocity. Dunford Auditorium (in the Browning building) on the DSU campus.  The screening is free and open to the public.  John Gibler will offer some opening comments. The screening will be followed by a short Q&A session with Mr. Gibler.

SEPT 23 (THU) 4 PM

Independent journalist John Gibler in conversation with DSU's Vince Brown (Institute of Politics) in the Gardner Center Ballroom on the DSU campus. The event is free and open to the public. A short Q&A session will follow the discussion.  Livestream: https://youtu.be/CxooXrohkDY


SEPT 26 (SUN) 9 AM, 11 AM & 1 PM

St. George Catholic Church (259 W 200 N, St. George, UT 84770) offers prayers of the faithful for the 43 students and all victims of political violence at all services on this, the seventh anniversary of the atrocity. While open to the public, these are solemn religious ceremonies so your respectful behavior is requested.

SEPT 26 (SUN) 8 PM

Candlelight vigil for the 43 students on the Encampment Mall near the clock tower on the DSU campus.

Installation remains deployed across campus for viewing in nine buildings.
